Hi, I’m Chelsea Thrasher, and I’m the breeder behind Thrasher Family Puppies.
We are a small, family-oriented program in the Springfield, Missouri area raising Golden Retrievers and Cocker Spaniels. We love connecting families with healthy puppies who are well prepared for family life!

In-Home Raising & Daily Interaction
Our puppies are raised both in our kennel and in our home. They come inside every day and are part of our routine.
They are exposed to children, other dogs, and everyday household activity. This helps them grow into confident, well-adjusted puppies who are ready for family life.
Early Training & Socialization
We begin early with potty training, crate introduction, and simple skills like “sit.”
These early steps help make the transition into your home smoother, and we’ll guide you on what to continue after pickup.
Health-Focused Breeding
We breed with a focus on health, temperament, and breed quality.
All puppies receive:
- Two rounds of vaccinations
- Deworming
- A full vet check before going home

I keep the process simple while making sure you feel confident each step of the way.
The first step is to reach out. I’ll answer your questions and help you decide if one of our puppies is the right fit.
When you’re ready to move forward, I’ll send over the application, contract, and deposit details to reserve your spot.

Our family is committed to ethical breeding practices. We focus on quality over quantity, ensuring each puppy receives the love and attention it deserves.
When can I pick my puppy?
Great question! We temperament our puppies, so this means we work together to find the most suitable puppy for your family. Once you reserve a puppy, we’ll send you a questionnaire to find out more about your lifestyle, preferences for personality, and previous ownership experience, etc. For Cocker Spaniel puppies, we will of course take color requests, and both breed questionnaires will give you the option for choosing male or female. When puppies are close to seven weeks old, we begin the matching process.
Can I breed my AKC puppy?
All puppies are sold with pet registration. If you want full rights, please share that information.
Will you deliver the puppy to me?
There are a variety of options for Go Home Day! If you are not local to me, I help you find a trusted ground transporter or flight nanny. For an added delivery fee, I will travel in a two-hour radius of my home. Contact me to discuss your situation!
What health testing do you perform?
All of our adults are Embark DNA tested and genetically clear for inherited diseases. Additionally, we test hips, elbows, and cardiac health through OFA.
Why do you breed Golden Retrievers and Cocker Spaniels?
I breed Golden Retrievers and Cocker Spaniels because they are two of my most favorite breeds! Both have wonderful, people loving temperaments and are beloved family dogs. Their outdoors, hunting origins make both breeds highly trainable. Additionally, the size variation allows the puppies to be socialized to dogs of different sizes.
When can puppies go home?
Puppies go home when they are at least 8 weeks old.
Do you help after I bring my puppy home?
Yes. I’m always available if you have questions or need guidance.
